“FlylikeStore: embroidering culture and purpose from Guatemala to the world”
Embroidering dreams: from travel to purpose
From a young age, I felt the world was too big to stay in just one place. That curiosity led me to live in Dublin for almost 15 years , travel to more than 52 countries , and train in Translation and Interpreting, International Trade, Project Management, and Digital Marketing . I worked for companies like Hostelworld, Airbnb, and HotelTonight , where I gained valuable experience in the global tourism sector.
But it was in Guatemala where my path took a profound and unexpected turn.
In 2019, while living in Dublin and working for Airbnb, I received a hand-embroidered belt as a birthday gift, made by Guatemalan artisans and intended as a camera strap. It was love at first sight. I couldn't believe that something so beautiful and intricately detailed could be entirely handmade. That was the moment an idea was born that changed my life.
When the pandemic hit and Airbnb let me go, I saw the crisis as an opportunity. That's how FlylikeStore was born, an ethical fashion brand that fuses traditional Guatemalan embroidery and vegetable-tanned Argentinian leather .
Today, our creative community is made up of women artisans from Guatemala and Argentina . Together, they weave history, culture, sustainability, and female empowerment into every piece. We also work with seed beads alongside a group of women in Santiago Atitlán , exploring new techniques and languages of textile expression.
FlylikeStore is already available in stores in Argentina, the United States, Switzerland, Mexico City, Germany, Guatemala City, and San Salvador . We collaborate with illustrators, and we will soon be launching textile journeys to connect women with artisan communities and create transformative experiences.
My story isn't just mine: it's also the story of many other women who decided to transform their passion into impact. Because when nothing is certain, everything is possible .
