Inteligencia emocional y Emprendimiento

Emotional intelligence and entrepreneurship

Emotional intelligence refers to the ability to recognize, understand, and manage our own emotions, as well as the ability to recognize, understand, and influence the emotions of others. This concept, popularized by psychologist Daniel Goleman, not only broadly explains the importance of emotional intelligence (EI) but also measures certain factors to recognize it in our lives.

In the world of entrepreneurship, emotional intelligence is more than a desirable skill; it's a necessity. Entrepreneurs who cultivate their emotional intelligence can face challenges more effectively, make better decisions, and lead with greater impact.

By integrating emotional intelligence into a business approach, leaders not only improve their own performance, but also foster a work environment where everyone can enhance their skills .

In the competitive world of entrepreneurship, having an innovative idea or a solid business strategy isn't enough. Successful entrepreneurs understand that emotional intelligence (EI) plays a crucial role in managing their businesses and developing effective relationships. But what exactly is emotional intelligence, and why is it so relevant for entrepreneurs? Developing emotional intelligence not only improves personal well-being but also provides a number of tangible benefits for entrepreneurs:

More effective decision-making: By better controlling their emotions, entrepreneurs are able to make more informed and less impulsive decisions, based on data and analysis rather than momentary emotions.

Leadership improvement: Entrepreneurs who demonstrate empathy and emotional control tend to be more respected leaders, capable of motivating and leading their teams more effectively.

Stress reduction: The ability to manage emotions decreases personal and work-related stress, allowing for a clearer focus on business objectives.

Greater adaptability: Emotional intelligence facilitates adaptability to changes and setbacks, a crucial skill in the dynamic world of entrepreneurship.

That is why I thought it appropriate to describe a woman who had to develop her emotional intelligence,  Mary Kay was a woman who defied the circumstances of her time.

Mary Kay Ash was an extraordinary woman. As an entrepreneur and philanthropist, she started her business in a small storefront in Dallas, Texas, with five products and a big dream: to empower women to transform their lives and, in turn, help more women succeed.

Today, with 3.5 million Independent Beauty Consultants, Mary Kay offers more than 200 premium products in over 35 countries worldwide. For more than 50 years, Mary Kay has empowered women not only with its business concept but also by setting an example of facing and overcoming challenges. At the same time, the Mary Kay business opportunity has helped women from Kansas to Kazakhstan discover supplemental income, empowering choices, and true inner beauty.
