¿TU HOJA DE VIDA: VERDAD O MENTIRA?

YOUR RESUME: TRUTH OR LIE?

At some point, we've all had to create a resume or CV to apply for, apply for, or get a job. This formal document is usually the first point of contact when we're hired to give a talk, do consulting work, or fill any other job.

The question is, does that dossier we made really represent us, because sometimes it becomes a simple fleeting document that doesn't define what we do, much less what we are.

Sometimes it lacks soul, so much so that the narrative of a life or career is conspicuously absent. At other times, what you find is pure hyperbole, inflated, exaggerated, and even false information.

This swelling of the ego has a cause: to obtain a contract, a position, or a role, but often with honesty lost along the way, in a society that nullifies the truth and drills into Being so that Having can take hold.

Thus, we are faced with an elusive truth, with distorted data that feeds the narcissism the system compels. Perhaps this happens because we teeter on the edge of fear of rejection and anonymity, even with our names and signatures—essential aspects of any resume.

When the reader (the one who wishes to hire) opens the text about himself from that other who seeks to be chosen, data unfolds and inclusions and exclusions are also revealed; each one decides what information to include and what to omit.

Some of these professional reports are discreet, others are bombastic, depending on the persona we construct in order to sell an image and represent ourselves, as in any monologue.

So, resumes are a reflection of life itself, often focusing on the product rather than the process (perhaps the most valuable aspect) that led to the result. Nor is it appropriate to be so modest as to omit our education, as our experience, training, and qualifications are valuable. The real issue here is with inflated and fabricated resumes.

Let us then ask ourselves what logic underlies the resume we have written. Hopefully, it does not respond solely to the market logic that objectifies the individual, as Pierre Bourdieu expressed in his text, “Biographical Inclusion.” The idea  It is about being careful when we create our resume.  so that it does not become  as Sandra García Salord said in a set of “ still and fragmented images that lack history”

A good resume contains relevant information, highlights personal, professional, and organizational skills, uses a visually appealing and appropriate design, demonstrates good language skills, pays attention to spelling, punctuation, and grammar, emphasizes recent experience without neglecting career paths, and includes contact information.  It brings out the human being.

In this world, honesty is key; it's essential to prioritize the truth over mere advertising. Regarding degrees and academic qualifications, it's important to verify that the institution issuing the degrees has genuine accreditation in your country and is endorsed by the relevant ministries.  or education secretariats.

According to Ludwig Wittgenstein, lying is a game of language, and however solid it may seem, it always crumbles, breaks down, and its consequences are terrible. So don't forget ethics, because they uphold your good name and serve as an excellent introduction to your career and the vital drive that possesses you—that courage.  that artificial intelligence will never be able to have.

Gracias Nevis
