Experience your transformation with your dream factory....
By Sophia de Gallardo/ Psychologist & Wellness Coach
A few months ago, in a conversation with a colleague and highly renowned and influential educational psychologist in our country, we were casually discussing the paradox of what the purpose was for which we had prepared so much, and now, with closed offices, empty workplaces, children at home, and spouses working remotely, we came to the conclusion that we were more than prepared (or at least better equipped) to face a period of crisis. We laughed, and she attributed it to "preparing for the end of the world if it happens" (amid nervous laughter). In our minds, we know perfectly well that we are here to support someone going through grief, separation, financial crisis, anxiety, learning difficulties, or emotional imbalance. It never crossed our minds that we would have prepared for a global syndrome caused by confinement and a new way of life.
Today we may not know the magic formula for being prepared and acting in our society; circumstances are still very changeable, but what I can tell you is that the feeling we've all had is that we have to transcend any circumstance in life, not to survive the current situation, but to achieve a wonderful "reinvention" where you, as a person, can act more quickly and better than you were already doing as a daughter, wife, mother, entrepreneur, student, professional, etc.
This has made me reflect for the last 8 months, so that today I can tell you what this word really means, coming to the conclusion that it is a beautiful word that elegantly tells you the following phrase: "the time has come to change, it is not negotiable."
For some, the word "change" might seem very appealing, and sometimes we simply don't know how to apply it. But we tend to resist it most of the time, making countless excuses to prevent change from taking shape in our lives. This kind of attitude is quite common. You'd be surprised by the statistics, which show that only 20% of the world's population finds change easy, while the other 80% are average people who have settled into a "normal" lifestyle, comfortable with an "average" job and income, an "average" car, and an "average" house, because we think things have gone well for us lately.
These lines you're reading today are meant to invite you to consider the following: If things have been going well for you, why should you change? And if the situation is the opposite, what do you think is preventing you from changing?
Most of the time we change because we're forced to, backed into a corner, with a terrible attitude and little conviction in the path we're taking. But what if we were willing to look for what makes us dissatisfied and frustrated, and turn it into an opportunity to improve our lives, by improving one thing at a time?
Being women with a vision geared towards change in all aspects of life means that these changes happen naturally and without having to force them. It will require time and, above all, discipline to reinvent your life.
They're not castles in the air…
Draw up a travel plan to your inner self and visualize yourself directly in your goal, introspect towards your SELF, daring to dream, asking yourself what you desire, where you want to go, who you want to be and how you want to be remembered by your family.
With that, you have to imagine what you can achieve, because if it's possible, it doesn't matter if you only get half or do everything completely, it will always be better than what you have now, so get to work and don't put limits on your thoughts or actions.
What do your dreams smell like?
Live authenticity in all its splendor, as this will shape a genuine woman in her best version, with greater solidity in her decisions, more sensitive, empathetic, making all the necessary changes based on your essence.
If you plan your personal renewal thinking about your future, your dreams, goals and personal aspirations, remember to put them in a visible place; this will be like drawing a map of the re-engineering of your life, providing a fragrant scent of achievement, exploration, mastery, recognition, control, transcendence, pleasure, freedom and power.
Our trainable brain and the dream factory.
From our thoughts arise actions or fears, so from the moment you tell yourself what you wish to achieve—for example, freedom, recognition, security, pleasure, and so on—your brain will act to achieve it. It will work tirelessly to reach its goal and maintain it. Therefore, it is in your hands to shape what you want to surround your life with. Challenge yourself, whether you feel motivated or not. Remember that if you dream and fulfill your dreams, you will be an example to inspire many through your story.
So in this process of reinventing ourselves as empowered women, don't stop creating dreams, take care of the stories you allow your mind to tell within you; every day you will have good and bad moments, however some of them will take you further away from fulfilling what you long for and others will bring you closer to your complete transformation, don't allow yourself to lose sight of your inner world.
“Whenever you want to give up on your dream, commit to working on it for one more day, one more week, then one more month, then one more year. You’ll be amazed at what will happen if you don’t give up.” — Nick Vujicic
