  1. How long have you been involved in bowling and what has your experience been in the sport?
I've been involved in the sport for 31 years, and honestly, my experience has been rewarding. It's my life, and everything revolves around bowling. I'm not saying it's been easy, though.
This sport is truly a rollercoaster of emotions and situations. The goal is to improve every day and become more versatile to face the different patterns that arise in competition. Each tournament is a new experience and a way to learn.
I also worked for 13 years in the administrative part of the Federation and others as a coach at the Academy.
  2. What are some of the important things you've learned throughout your bowling career?
I've learned that it takes responsibility, perseverance, commitment, and hard work to achieve my goals. I've learned to be open to constant change, to be better every day, and not to rest on my laurels.
Past. That being resilient is important to be able to face adversity constructively and to grow stronger from it. It has given me the ability to adapt to
Managing both successes and failures. Having the support of my people at all times is a motivation to move forward.
  3. What factors are important for the practice of bowling?
  • Bowling requires a lot of consistency, patience, motor skills, fluidity, repetition and mental focus (concentration).
  • Many hours of training per week are necessary, starting with the walking technique, arm positioning, body positioning, and ball release. (This is all a process that will take a different amount of time to learn for each person.)
  • Physical preparation is necessary to strengthen the body and thus avoid injuries.
  • Mental game work should be done with a psychologist in order to manage different factors such as: stress management, emotions, relaxation and visualization.

4. What challenges have you faced as a woman in the world of bowling and how have you overcome them?
In Guatemala, bowling is a sport practiced mostly by men; women have always been very few. My competitions, both at the junior and senior levels in Guatemala, were specifically in mixed categories (men and women in the same category). When I was on the national team (and in the qualifying rounds), it was either the men's or women's division, and in some championships there might be a doubles event and mixed teams.

Financial support has always been the most difficult challenge, because without money we cannot access good sports equipment or a high-level coach.
Level, practice matches, and training camps. To maintain a good level, we must be constantly competing to avoid losing our rhythm and thus gain more competitive experience, which helps build greater confidence and versatility.
What I have had to overcome, I have achieved thanks to the people I had and have around me, people who believed in my potential, my commitment and my dreams within my sport, without asking for anything in return they lent me a hand when I needed it and to this day they continue to do so.

  1. What has been your most outstanding achievement in bowling and what is your long-term personal or professional goal in this sport?
My most outstanding achievement is having won a gold medal at the VI World Games in Akita, Japan in 2001. My goal is to maintain competitive fitness so that I can reach the senior tour of the event in the long term.
