Latinas que programan el futuro: el movimiento que está cambiando el rostro de la tecnología

Latinas shaping the future: the movement that is changing the face of technology

For decades, major technological innovations have been spearheaded—and dominated—by men. But that narrative is changing thanks to the tireless work of Latina women who are paving the way in the world of programming, artificial intelligence, and digital development.

One of the most outstanding initiatives of the moment is “Technolochicas” , a mentoring and education network founded by Latina engineers in the U.S. that has already trained more than 100,000 Hispanic girls and young women in areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

But they're not just learning: they're also creating. From apps focused on women's health to augmented reality tools for sex education in rural communities, young Latinas are demonstrating that they not only have talent, but also a deeply human and social vision of technology .

And it's not just the US: in countries like Mexico, Colombia, Chile, and Guatemala, networks like Laboratoria, CodeGirls, and Niñas Pro are emerging, training a new generation of programmers. They are designing solutions for climate change, access to mental health care, women's digital safety, and much more.

The most powerful thing about this movement is its message: technology is not neutral, and when Latina women participate, innovation becomes more inclusive, more creative, and more empathetic.

So if you have a daughter, niece, student, or friend interested in this world, encourage her. Because Latinas don't just consume technology, they're also creating it.
