Background of a tradition that illuminates hearts
Since 2021, EEGSA Christmas lights have become one of the most anticipated traditions for thousands of Guatemalan families, inspired by the more than 55 years of history of the EPM Group Christmas lights in Medellín, Colombia.
This initiative, fully funded by EEGSA (covering both manufacturing and electricity consumption) , represents a gift to the communities within its service area. With an investment of nearly Q20 million , it has impacted more than 5 million people in Guatemala, Escuintla, and Sacatepéquez. In total, more than 750 figures have been created to illuminate the Christmas season.
The Christmas lights stand out for their unique artistic approach in Guatemala: molded, papered and illuminated metal structures that surprise children, young people and adults with their creativity, detail and size.
In addition, the project generates more than 100 direct and indirect jobs , including installers, electricians, artisans, blacksmiths and vendors, strengthening the local economy.
EEGSA invites all families to experience the joy and charm of La Blanca Navidad in Plaza Berlín and its other 9 locations and share their experience with the hashtag #AlumbradosEEGSA .
