Mathile Institute and Yaman Kutx Foundation join forces to transform child nutrition in Huehuetenango
“The alliance will allow the implementation of the Nutrisalud YK program, which will bring the Chispuditos supplement and nutritional education to families in vulnerable situations
in Nentón and Jacaltenango”
Guatemala City, June 2025. In a decisive step towards eradicating child malnutrition in western Guatemala, the Mathile Institute and the Yaman Kutx Foundation signed a cooperation agreement for the joint implementation of the Nutrisalud YK Project , an initiative aimed at improving the health and nutrition of children in rural communities of Nentón and Jacaltenango, Huehuetenango.
The partnership between the two organizations will allow the nutritional supplement Chispuditos, developed by the Mathile Institute, to reach the communities that need it most. Recognized for its effectiveness in combating malnutrition, this supplement features the exclusive M+ formula, which contains a combination of essential micronutrients. Furthermore, its distribution will be accompanied by educational initiatives so that families can fully benefit from its properties.
“This alliance is a commitment to the life, growth, and future of our rural children. As a Foundation, we believe that children's health should not be a privilege, but a guaranteed right,” said Abraham Moisés Delgado Montejo, president of the Board of Directors of the Yaman Kutx Foundation.
As part of this partnership, which will initially last five years, the program will prioritize the distribution of Chispuditos in communities with high rates of child malnutrition. This intervention will be accompanied by training sessions for families and community leaders on best practices for child nutrition, with the goal of promoting healthy eating habits at home.
A monitoring system will also be implemented to evaluate the program's impact on the health of the children participating in the program. The initiative also includes strengthening local collaborative networks and managing technical and financial resources to ensure the project's long-term sustainability.
"We are honored to collaborate with the Yaman Kutx Foundation. We firmly believe in the power of local partnerships to generate real and lasting change. Chispuditos is more than a supplement: it is a proven nutritional solution that can make a significant difference in children's health and development," said Lisa Villanueva, Nutrition Expert at The Mathile Institute .
The program is expected to benefit hundreds of vulnerable families through a comprehensive approach that combines nutritional assistance, community education, and technical monitoring. This strategy aims to immediately improve the health of children while promoting sustainable practices within the family and community.
Thanks to this synergy, the initiative will not only contribute to reducing current malnutrition rates, but will also strengthen local capacities for its long-term prevention. With this, the Yaman Kutx Foundation and the Mathile Institute reaffirm their commitment to the well-being of Guatemalan children and the development of healthier and more resilient communities.
