Nestlé Purina promotes veterinary training in Guatemala
· Thanks to the leadership of Nestlé Purina and its partners, veterinarians participated in specialized workshops with Dr. Juan Pablo Villegas, addressing key issues for the well-being of dogs in their geriatric stage.
Guatemala, July 30, 2025. – Nestlé Purina reaffirmed its commitment to animal welfare and the development of the veterinary profession, facilitating a series of workshops and clinical talks led by Colombian expert Dr. Juan Pablo Villegas, aimed at professionals from different regions of the country.
During two days organized in conjunction with programs such as Young Veterinarians, VetTalks by Purina and in partnership with AMFEGU, participants delved into topics such as the geriatric approach from the physical examination, the relationship between neurological and orthopedic disorders, and clinical cases of thoracic surgery, with a practical and up-to-date approach.
“ Veterinary geriatric medicine has become increasingly important, as dogs live longer and require more specialized care. These workshops allow veterinarians to strengthen their knowledge to better support their patients during this stage ,” explained Dr. Juan Pablo Villegas during his visit to the country.
In addition to technical knowledge, these activities represented a space for exchange among colleagues, clinical reflection and professional updating, always with the support of Nestlé Purina, which continues to bet on the development of those who care for pets every day.
“ This was an excellent opportunity to strengthen the skills of those who are at the forefront of caring for Guatemalan pets. At Nestlé Purina, we believe in being allies of experts and promoting spaces that raise the level of veterinary medicine ,” said Ana Lucía de León, Veterinary Delegate for Nestlé Purina Guatemala.
The sessions were supported by Boehringer Ingelheim, Nutrifert and other entities in the sector, reaffirming a shared vision: to raise the standard of animal care in the country.
With actions like these, Nestlé Purina reaffirms its commitment to contributing to the well-being of pets through scientific knowledge, working together with animal health professionals, and promoting spaces that strengthen veterinary medicine in Guatemala and the region.
