Cobán, Alta Verapaz, September 2025. September is a month of unity, identity, and national pride. With the goal of offering Guatemalan families a space to share and enjoy the best of our traditions, Plaza del Parque has prepared a special program full of cultural, gastronomic, and recreational activities that celebrate our love for our land.

Throughout the month, visitors can enjoy a photo spot featuring giant letters reading “YO ❤️ GUATE,” designed as a meeting place and a place to remember. This space aims to become a symbol of identity and belonging, inviting everyone to take home a special photograph that reflects their affection and pride in being Guatemalan. Families, friends, and visitors can take photos in this festive setting and share them on social media, thus spreading the message of unity beyond the walls of the shopping center.

The schedule of activities kicks off on Saturday, September 6th at 3:00 pm with the "Sweet Guatemalan Tradition" baking contest, organized in collaboration with Kapé Cobán. This event will bring together baking enthusiasts who will present their best recipes inspired by the richness of Guatemalan cuisine. From traditional sweets to innovative creations with a Guatemalan twist, the public will be able to appreciate the creativity and talent of the participants. The competition will take place on Level 2 of Plaza del Parque, where a panel of expert judges will evaluate flavor, presentation, and authenticity to select the winners. Outstanding participants will receive cash prizes and special gifts, recognizing their efforts to keep Guatemalan culinary traditions alive.

On Saturday, September 27th at 2:00 pm, Plaza del Parque will be filled with music, dance, and joy for a grand Cultural Afternoon. The event will feature the renowned Los Amigos de la Marimba academy, who will offer artistic performances and live marimba music. Visitors can enjoy a repertoire full of energy and tradition, evoking the sounds that identify Guatemala in every corner of the country. In addition, the event will be accompanied by typical Guatemalan snacks, creating a warm and family-friendly atmosphere where flavors and music intertwine to pay homage to our roots.

With these activities, Plaza del Parque reaffirms its commitment to being a space that not only provides entertainment experiences but also fosters cultural identity and family unity. The month of national pride thus becomes an opportunity to strengthen our connection to our traditions and transmit the value of Guatemalan culture to new generations.
