Open letter to my teenage self
Because everything I am today… began with your doubts, your fears, and your fire.
Hello.
I know that sometimes you feel like nobody understands you. That the world is crashing down on you, that your heart is about to burst, and that you don't know if you're on the right track, if you're doing the right thing, or if you have permission to be who you truly are.
I come from the future, not to give you answers, but to embrace you.
I want to tell you that yes, you will cry. A lot. But you will also laugh harder than you can imagine.
You're going to break down... and you're also going to rebuild yourself, more times than you expect.
I want to apologize for all the times you doubted your worth.
For every time you looked harshly at yourself in the mirror, believing you weren't enough.
And also for having kept so silent when what you really needed was to shout your dreams.
But I also want to thank you.
Thank you for resisting. For imagining, for writing, for rebelling.
Thank you for persevering, even when no one else believed you could do it.
Because thanks to you, I am standing today.
Thanks to your fire, your madness, your clumsy attempts, your intense loves and your unanswered questions.
I promise you that what hurts today will one day make sense.
And that everything that seems like a mistake to you today... will be part of your strength.
You're going to find beautiful people.
You're going to lose others.
And you'll find yourself, again and again.
So I kept dreaming.
I kept writing.
I continued to feel everything intensely.
And don't let anyone extinguish what makes you unique.
Because life isn't about having everything figured out, but about knowing that everything—even what's broken—can have beauty.
And you are part of that beauty.
With love,
Your future self.
"And though your beginning may have been small, your end will be very great."
