“It’s never too late to believe in yourself again: The story of Lilian Quiñonez”
My name is Lilian Quiñonez , and I am passionate about hiking and community tourism in Guatemala . This passion, which began as a hobby among friends, has transformed into a way of life and a project with a profound social and environmental impact: Sendereando Ando (Hiking and Walking) .
It all started several years ago when I organized hikes in the mountains near my community with friends and coworkers. I wanted to share those natural spaces that filled me with so much joy, always with respect for nature and with the clear intention of supporting local guides .
In 2020, this informal initiative became a formal project. Sendereando Ando was born from listening to the concerns of many people who wanted to get started in hiking but didn't feel ready for challenges like volcanoes or very demanding routes. With the support of Víctor , a great expert on local trails, and Walter , a dedicated community guide, we began designing accessible, safe, and enriching routes .
Since then, the project has grown alongside a network of community guides , local people who have an in-depth knowledge of the hills and trails of their regions. Today, we have more than 15 active routes in the mountains near Antigua Guatemala, and we continue to add destinations under a philosophy of conscious and responsible tourism .
Leave only footprints,
Take care of nature,
Supporting communities.
Sendereando Ando is not just a company, it's a movement , a way of experiencing tourism through connection with the land, the culture, and the people. I feel grateful to be able to showcase the beauty of our authentic Guatemala , from a local and sustainable perspective.
Thank you for the opportunity to share this little piece of our history.
See you on the trail!
Lilian Quiñonez
