The Institute of Vision Sciences celebrates the graduation of its 40th Class of Ophthalmologists

The Institute of Vision Sciences (ICV), one of the most renowned institutions for training ophthalmologists and subspecialists in Guatemala, recently celebrated the graduation of its 40th class (2021-2025). On this occasion, nine ophthalmologists and four subspecialists successfully completed their postgraduate studies, receiving certification in various areas of ophthalmology, including cornea, glaucoma, retina and vitreous, retinovascular surgery, and oculoplastics.

A commitment to the visual health of Guatemalans

Since its founding, the ICV has played a fundamental role in training eye care professionals committed to the well-being of the Guatemalan population. Thanks to its excellent academic program, which combines theory and practice with cutting-edge technology, this institution has graduated 249 ophthalmologists and 142 subspecialists, establishing itself as a leading center for ophthalmology education in the country and the region.

ICV graduates receive accreditation from the Francisco Marroquín University School of Medicine, guaranteeing quality certification and academic endorsement. The institute's highly specialized training is designed to prepare physicians in the latest techniques and advancements in ophthalmology, ensuring the best possible patient care.

In addition to celebrating the graduation of the 40th class, the ICV welcomed nine new Resident Physicians, who are beginning their postgraduate training in the 44th class (2025-2029). This reaffirms the ongoing commitment of the Guatemalan Committee for the Blind and Deaf to education and visual health in the country. The addition of these new students ensures the continued training of highly qualified specialists who will contribute to the well-being of Guatemalan society.
