Education and prevention: EEGSA successfully concludes the 2025 Accident Prevention Program
Guatemala, October 13, 2025 - EEGSA held the closing ceremony for the 2025 edition of the Accident Prevention Program (PPA), an initiative that has been promoting electrical safety among primary school students in different communities across the country for fourteen years.
This year, the program reached 32 schools in the municipalities of San Pedro Ayampuc, Chinautla, Escuintla, San Bartolomé Milpas Altas, and Zones 5 and 6 of Guatemala City, directly benefiting 9,350 students and indirectly impacting approximately 47,000 people. Throughout its history, the PPA has reached more than 300 schools, over 400,000 students, and more than two million Guatemalans, establishing itself as a leader in the culture of prevention.
With this activity, EEGSA renews its commitment to caring for what is most valuable: people's lives. Through education and community well-being, we continue to cultivate a culture of prevention that transcends the classroom and reaches Guatemalan homes,” stated Victoria Balcárcel, Head of EEGSA's Social and Environmental Management Unit.
This effort, he added, is part of our corporate purpose to contribute to the harmony of life for a better world, building together a safer, more sustainable future full of opportunities for new generations.
“Brushstrokes of Prevention” Drawing Contest
As part of its educational program, EEGSA held the " Brushstrokes of Prevention" drawing contest, an initiative that invited elementary school students to express, through art, essential tips for preventing electrical accidents. The contest was organized into three categories according to grade level: the first for first and second grade students; the second for third and fourth grade students; and the third for fifth and sixth grade students.
The drawings reflected the participants' creativity, knowledge, and commitment to electrical safety. To recognize their talent, EEGSA awarded the winners of the top three places in each category with a laptop, a television, and a bicycle, respectively, thus promoting preventative awareness from an early age.
The 24 most outstanding works were exhibited in the EEGSA administrative building, where workers, strategic partners and institutional representatives appreciated the
children's talent and voted for their favorite drawings, adding their opinion to the final selection of the winners.
Closing ceremony and awards
The closing ceremony of PPA 2025 was held at IRTRA Mundo Petapa, where the official awards were presented to the winners, who enjoyed an unforgettable experience with their families and teachers.
With this event, EEGSA reaffirms its commitment to education and electrical safety, promoting a culture of prevention from childhood and contributing to the well-being of communities in its coverage areas.
