Jueves Santo: Cuando el servicio vale más que el poder

Holy Thursday: When service is worth more than power

A day to remember that greatness is not about being in charge... but about being kneeling out of love.

Amidst processions, carpets, incense, and traditions, we often forget the true meaning of Holy Thursday. It wasn't a day of spectacular miracles or mass speeches. It was a day of silence, of intimacy… and of an act that changed everything: Jesus washing the feet of his disciples .

In a culture where feet represented the lowest, the dirtiest, the most unworthy, He—the Master, the Son of God—kneels and touches with His hands that which no one else wanted to touch. Not out of duty. Out of love. As an example. Out of humility.

What is Holy Thursday really teaching us?
Serving is not about demeaning oneself, it's about rising above others. The most powerful leadership lies not in titles, but in the ability to bend down to ease the burdens of others.
And that—though it may not seem like it—is still revolutionary.

In a world that celebrates those who shout the loudest, those who impose their will, those who win… this day reminds us that true authority lies in those who silently accompany, those who get their hands dirty for others, those who seek not applause but purpose.

Perhaps this Holy Thursday you don't need a procession to connect.
Perhaps all that's needed is to ask yourself:
Whom am I serving with love? Who have I stopped looking in the eyes of? Whom should I approach without judgment, without fear, with tenderness?

Sometimes the greatest act is not preaching, but sitting down to listen.
It's not about leading the masses, but about taking care of those who are alone.
It's not about multiplying loaves, but about sharing the one you have.

Today is not just a holy day. It is an opportunity to reorder the soul.
And perhaps the first step... is to bend down a little, not to lower your head, but to lift someone else up.

"Whoever wants to be first among you must be your servant." — Matthew 20:27
